6 Miles, 57 Minutes, 10 Seconds

Not bad!! I was thinking that after the speed work yesterday that I would be dog tired and slow today, assuming I got out and ran at all.

Today I changed my route a little bit and avoided one traffic light. I got lucky on two others and hardly had to wait at all. Looks like that really affected my time well! ;)

6 miles in 57 minutes is about a 9:30 pace! I don’t think I’ve ever sustained a pace like that over 6 miles! Then again, maybe my Garmin GPS burped or something. Either way, I’ll take it. It’s an encouraging sign that my training is going somewhat well. Looks like the speed work is working!

Of course, I’m paying for it now. I have more discomfort in my ankles, and my legs are sore. Tomorrow calls for an 8.5 mile tempo run. I’m not looking for a 9:30 pace for that one!

Stay tuned…

Shoulda taken my own advice regarding the circuit training. My knees are now shot. It’s been over a week and my knees feel as bad as they did when they first started hurting. I’m hoping that it isn’t permanent as I just started running again here not that long ago. Got my mile down to 9:20 which means I was tracking a 28:00 3-mile. I was convinced that I could have had it down into the 8’s after another few sessions of running, if it took even that long. I was working towards mid-6’s (as an actual sustainable pace). Walked 6 miles over the weekend (3 per day) and carried 35 pounds on my shoulders most of the way (the weight was one of my kids) and I could feel it going up any incline whatsoever. Thinking I might have to put the running on ice for a while and stick to the elyptical machine (if I can even handle that) for a bit. I owe myself an endurance run after working on timed miles. I did use the elyptical machine after my knees were hurting and I did OK, I just did a mile on it and called it a day so I could get my circuit training on. My probalem is (once again) I didn’t include my legs into the circuit training mix like I needed to. I’ll find a way to deal with it, Keep up your own good work, looks like you’re making some real progress.

Wow! Looks like you really banged yourself up! Hope you heal up soon. Myself, I’ve not done any running in 2 weeks. I don’t know how I’ll be when I start running again tomorrow, but we’ll see.
