Why Don’t I Flush My Money Down the Toilet?

Friday, February 29th, 2008

BAC closed below 40 today. At least I had the opportunity to pick up a few more shares. I’m trying to average down the best I can. I’ve just got to be patient like I was with EMKR. It took me 18 months, but I finally made some money on that. Bank of America isn’t going belly up anytime soon.

Hang in there folks. Life will go on and we will be back to making money soon! :)

Not Upgrading Just Yet

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

I still have my copy of Mandriva 2008 Spring, but I’m not upgrading just yet. Things are working OK, and I don’t really feel like going through all the hours of reconfiguring the OS and all the applications. I’ll wait for a weekend where I have nothing going on, whenever that is… :)

Double Crap!!

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

SLV extended its rally today :( AAARRRRRGGHHHH!!!

I’m ticked. At least FXE is doing well. Dollar fell to a new low against the Euro today.

I figure silver is due for a pullback. Back in 1980, silver went to $50 an ounce, and it’s up to just below $20. The U.S. dollar does have some value. It’s not Armageddon just yet ;)

Crap…

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Silver (SLV) staged a huge rally today, up more than 5 points today. ^%$#@! I hate missing a huge rally. Numbers came out today indicating that inflation was on the rise. I got to say I’m kicking myself for missing this.

Oh well, at least I’m not losing money. Oh wait. There’s BAC :(

Visa Preparing IPO

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Oooh. I would like to get in on this. :)

Visa is planning an IPO of 406 million shares between $37 - $42. Looks like they took a look at MasterCard and got jealous. ;) I suppose that credit card activity is on the rise what with people paying most of their bills by credit card (either out of convenience or a cash flow issue), and etailing is now a part of every day life.

Probably can’t use Zecco to get a piece of this, but maybe I’ll call and ask ;)

See You At Starbucks!!!

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Singer Bill and I will be playing at a local Starbucks on March 28th. Can’t wait! I’ll also be playing in the worship band with Drummer Bill on Easter Night earlier that week. Looks like things are (finally) going to start getting busy again for Red Embers.

Don’t know when we’ll play together as a foursome again, but for now, it’s good to be on the stage again.

The Green Mafia Rears It’s Ugly Head…

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

I seems that every time someone appears on one of these talk shows about the so called global warming always prefaces their remarks with some comment about how “the debate about global warming is over”.

Excuse me? Was there a memo that I didn’t get? Last I heard, the debate regarding just about any scientific premise is always ongoing. But hey, THE ENVIRONMENTALISTS HAVE SPOKEN!!! The debate is over! FACT! Global warming is real. FACT! Man is the cause of global warming. FACT! Only government involvement can save us and somehow raising taxes on businesses (and by proxy, it’s customers) is involved in the solution.

For crying out loud, folks. If you’re so concerned about polluting companies, then I suggest you visit China or India or Eastern Europe. Somehow I think their “carbon footprint” is a bit larger than ours.

And we’re supposed to be concerned about this when we’re looking at stagflation for the first time in 30 years? Prices AND unemployment are rising. People are losing their jobs and their houses. The market is still floundering.

Most people are just trying to pay their bills and get by, thank you very much. Screw the polar bears.

The Oscars Are This Sunday?!?

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

I didn’t even think the nominees were announced yet! You can pretty much guess the depths of my apathy. I used to care about the Grammys because I was (and still am) very much into music, and I liked to see the live performances and root for my favorite artists to win awards. But nowadays my favorite artists are either retired, dead, or marginalized. I don’t even recognize who today’s artists are anymore. The “music” is just plain agonizing to listen to, and most of today’s “artists” are more known for their behavior than for their music anyhow.

The Oscars, on the other hand, I never cared about. Ever. Don’t get me wrong. I went to movies, but very few that would get nominated for any Academy Awards. Let’s see. In 2007, I went to see: Rocky Balboa, Transformers, Eyes of a Stranger (sucked except for the ending), Live Free or Die Hard, Eastern Promises (sucked sucked sucked). That’s about it I think. See a pattern here?

I could care less about Hollywood or any of the movie stars. Most have become arrogant, obnoxious snobs. These people dress up, memorize lines and spit them back out for a living. Most of their “talent” is wrapped up in their looks. What worse is that they have (and share) their opinions on U.S. policy. Please George, Julia et al. Keep your politics to yourself. You risk alienating your fans, and you’re morons besides. Now dance, monkey.

Too Rich For My Blood…

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

I sold the rest of my position in Silver. It was getting too hot. I got greedy though. Had to keep modifying my sell order chasing the price down. Oh well, at least I made some more cab fare. :)

So now I’m looking for another thing to trade while sliver cools down. I think I found it. Oil! Black gold! Texas Tea! I’m looking at USO (oil futures ETF), It’s too close to it’s all time high, and it’s dropping now. Gonna wait for it to drop a bit more before I go in.

Keeping some powder dry in cash for now.

Booyaa.

SLV Has Been Good To Me!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

The shiny metal continues to rally. Up over $17 an ounce today. Not really sure why other than comments from the Fed that they’ll probably keep cutting rates. Don’t matter to me. I’m holding on until it hits $18 and then I’m out.

Forget the pork bellies, Mortimer. Silver is where…it’s…AT!! :)
