Kevin Dubrow 1955 - 2007: Cum On Feel the Sadness
Well, you know I had to comment on this, didn’t you? The Quiet Riot singer was found in his home dead of “unknown causes”. May very well be a heart attack or some previously unknown ailment. At least, at this point, doesn’t seem to be a suicide or drug overdose.
What can I say? You can make all the jokes you want, but Cum On Feel the Noize was a great song. It paved the way for metal as a viable commercial genre.
It occurred to me earlier today that I shook this man’s hand as he wandered around the concessions area at The Meadows in Hartford (now called the Dodge or Careerbuilder.com ampitheater, or whatever other corporate namesake is has this week). Unfortunately, I had totally missed the band’s set, and walked in only to hear the last few notes of “Bang Your Head”. I was working late, not for extra pay, but out of obligation, on a thankless project. I wish I had left the work and made it to the show. Now I’ll never get to see that set that I missed. But that’s life, isn’t it? Sometimes, you just miss things and you don’t get to make them up later. I guess that’s a lesson to learn. Gather ye rose petals while you may?

God Bless Kevin Dubrow.
