Not Giving Up

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I refuse to give in. Earlier in this blog, I raved about Joel Osteen’s book “Your Best Life Now”. In his book, Osteen tells how his mother’s deep faith in God helped her overcome what was thought to be fatal cancer. I’m taking some inspiration from that story and decided to give this issue over to God. I’m going to have a positive attitude and pray for healing. What have I got to lose?

I’m going to have a positive attitude this week, on purpose. I’ve got my DVD of ‘300′ ready to watch on Friday night.

Injury or no. If I’m conscious, I’m crossing that finish line.

PREPARE FOR GLORY!!!

Big Disappointment :(

Today was supposed to be the day I ran 26.2 miles. Instead, I didn’t even get to 22, and I walked at least 3 miles of that, plus I sat down twice for a 5 minute break each. I was in so much pain I had to quit. Not fatigue, mind you, but pain. I have no idea how it happened, but I may have injured one of my ACL or ATL or whatever they call it. I took an extra long time stretching this morning too, including my ACL, but by 17 miles I had a shooting pain from my heel to my hip every time I put my foot down. That was at 11:00AM this morning, It’s now nearly 8PM and I’m still walking with a limp.

Of course, I was looking forward to this run as a test run of the marathon on the 13th. I wanted to prove that I could do it. Now I’m part bummed, part panicked, not that either of those will do me any good at this point. :(

I’ve got 2 Allieve in me at the moment, I’ll keep up with that. My training guide calls for taking the last week off before race day. That sounds good at this point.

I guess there’s nothing left to do but try to push through next Saturday. Hopefully the adrenaline from the competition will pull me through.

Still Alive

Hey everyone. Don’t want you to think I’ve forgotten about you. Just to let you know where I am now, it’s a little over a week before the marathon.

Did 4 miles today in about 36 minutes and change. Got 2 miles on Friday.
Then the BIG long run. A practice marathon on Saturday. 26.2 miles.
I may be a little loopy once I finish. Buy stock in Runner’s GU, because I’m stocking up!
