DID IT!!! 26.2 Miles - 5:56:26
I’ll write more later, but suffice to say, I did it. I’m mostly happy that I crossed that finish line. With my injury from last week, I had no business running a marathon yesterday. Thankfully my plan worked: Do as well as I can in the first half so I can build up a buffer against the 6 hour time limit to use in the 2nd half if I need it. I was limping while running the entire first half. At the 13.1 mark, I was at about 2:35 (which is what my brother did at Virginia Beach last year, on two good legs!). I was pleased with that, so I thought I’d spare myself doing any more damage and walked the 2nd half of the race. Good thing I did. I had pain in both legs by the end. My right leg’s injury was exacerbated , and my left leg was tired of bearing all my body weight.
Do you know what they call the med student who graduates last in his class? DOCTOR!!
I still finished the race. Not the way I would have liked, but at least I can put that 26.2 Euro sticker on my car! ![]()
