5 Miles…53 Minutes, 42.26 seconds

Still trying to keep up with the short runs. At least I’m getting out there. Couldn’t keep up with my usual 10 minute mile. I was even slower today than yesterday. Of course, I did have a long red light to wait for ;)

I knew it was going to be trouble the minute I got out of bed. Both my knees and hips still hurt from the day before. I’m still taking glucosamine and calcium supplements.

Tomorrow is a rest day, and Friday is another 5 miles.

Saturday is what I’m worried about: 20 miles. Friday night I’m going straight to bed and getting up at 5AM so I can get the whole run in while it’s still relatively cool.

Keep on keepin’ on!

If this is your first 20 miler of the year, I’d pass on the Friday run (and either do it on Thursday or not at all). For the run on Saturday, you might have ups and downs - stay hydrated, and don’t get discouraged if you have low points along the way. I was down in the dumps at 14.5 on mine on Tuesday, but I rehydrated, drank some pepsi, ate a peach, and banged out the last 5. You might be walking at mile 12, but catch some energy and be cruising through miles 16-20.
