Still Struggling
Today, I went for a long run. The schedule only called for 8 miles, but next Saturday calls for 20 miles. After dogging it the last several weeks and having an abysmal failure on my last short run, I decided to split the difference and try for 14 miles.
It didn’t happen.
Things probably went better than they otherwise would have had I not decided to eat before running. Whole grain cereal with banana. Wasn’t enough though. Starting a long run at 11AM in July wasn’t a good idea. It was just too hot. Went through all my 30 ounces of water before the end.
Then I just plain ran out of energy.
I managed 6 miles. For the next 4 miles it was walk 1/2 mile, then run 1 1/2 miles. Miles 12 - 13.7 I just had to walk. I was getting lightheaded and nauseous.
Still, the more you run, the more progress you make. Much better than staying home on the couch. That won’t get me anywhere. Still gotta keep at it.
