Missed my run today :(

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

For various reasons, my Good Friday “holiday” was anything but. I was supposed to do 4 miles today, but just couldn’t get to it.

My Saturday long run was 8 miles. I very nearly missed that one too. I was still bummed from missing my Friday run, so I knew I’d be royally p!ssed if I missed the Saturday run too. Thankfully, I found a 24 hour gym in Rocky Hill, got a 2 week trial membership to that, and got in my 8 miles on treadmill. I was going to make up the 4 mile run today (Easter Sunday. I’m backdating again. Shhhhh), but I just didn’t have the energy to do it.

Tomorrow (Monday) I’m on treadmill again for 4 miles, at least until my Garmin unit arrives. Then I’m on pavement. Fingers crossed. :)

New Dylan album this year?

Friday, April 6th, 2007

Just came across an online column from UNCUT (U.K. music magazine) columnist Allan Jones. Seems he’s heard a rumor about a new Dylan album to be released this year called “Blue Eyes In the Darkness”. This would be a big treat for Dylan fans, who were greeted with the excellent “Modern Times” in August of last year. Supposedly, this new album contains more songs from the same sessions. Is the rumor true, or is this more April Fool’s fallout? Like Bob sang: “God Knows”.
Anyway, to read the article for yourself, click here

Update: Looks like the rumor he heard was from a comment that one “Sweetwater Johnson” made on Allan’s blog. A dubious source at best. At any rate, you can find the comment here.

Good grief, I AM getting old :(

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

It’s Thursday night. I have Friday off, and I’m staying in for the evening. I feel like I’m missing out on a ton of excitement. I should be out at the club! I should be SOMEWHERE! The fact is, I’m tired (up at 6:30 this morning), it was a pretty eventful day at work, and I have a run tomorrow. I also need to go into work for a little bit early tomorrow to do some pretty time critical stuff, so I can’t afford to sleep in to whenever I feel like.

Oh well. The club is probably dead tonight. I still have Friday night and Saturday night though. I bet the club will be pretty tired on both those nights though. Saturday night is usually the busy night for the club. This Saturday night will probably be more subdued.

And I STILL haven’t seen Johanna in almost 6 weeks now!* I wonder if she gave me up for Lent? Time will tell!

*Johanna is not her real name. It’s a woman’s name from a Bob Dylan song. As previously mentioned, I’ll be giving most people names from Bob Dylan songs to protect the innocent (and the guilty!). She’s a woman I’ve seen at the club on several occasions. I’m quite taken with her. Unfortunately, for various reasons, things wouldn’t work out between us. You can read more about Johanna here.

Yes. We’re still together

So Red Embers met at the Buttercup Dungeon last night (that’s our name for our rehearsal space; long story). We started work on a new song that Bill S. came up with. Just a bare outline of the verse & chorus at this point. The lyrics are pretty much done. We just have to put it to music. The hits just keep on coming!

I’d still love to get to recording at my home using my computer and this expensive sound card. But as with all other things, time is an issue. Maybe once I’ve set up shop in my new digs and “things settle down” (yeah, right), I’ll get to it.

CWTR making a comeback?

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

Well, it looks like Coldwater Creek has been on a bit of a tear recently, up almost 5% in the last two days since a Bank of America upgrade to ‘Buy’. If I hadn’t bought in at around $26, I’d be doing pretty well right now. As it is, I’ve almost broken even!

While I love Jim Cramer, I don’t have the time to do all of the homework he prescribes. I think I’ll stick to mutual funds!

Another 4 miles on the treadmill today

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Looks like my recovery is in full swing. I’m keeping up with the glucosamine and drinking the coral based calcium. I managed 4 miles on the treadmill today. Thursday I have off. Friday, I go another 4 miles, and 8 miles on Saturday. I’ll keep to the treadmill for now until my Garmin unit arrives. Next Saturday, my long run is only 4 miles, so that will be perfect timing.

Stay tuned fellow runners!

And I haven’t even moved in yet!!

My dad called today from my new condo. The heater’s busted. One quote is $2,600 to just replace the indoor parts, or $5,200 to fix the indoor and outdoor parts.

I wish to hell this was an April Fool’s post, but it’s not. Actually today is April 3rd. I’m still backdating my posts.

Ahh the joys of homeownership.
