Still hanging in there with EMKR

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

OK, so EMKR is still in the toilet. Blame it on the fact that it’s delinquent in it’s regulatory filings. That part doesn’t scare me as much as the fact it’s taking MONTHS to set things right. I would think some simple bookkeeping errors related to stock options would be easily correctable. My average share price is $7.50, and this thing is hovering around $5.00. I’ve got a good mind to sell, but I don’t want to take the loss. I hoping this thing falls further, I can double down, get a dead cat bounce and get out with a meager profit.

Hey. A man can dream! :)

Sending out even more belated birthday greetings!!

To another member of my family. Hope the day is good to you!! You know who you are. I know who I am :)

Hello, you fool! I love you!

The whistling, the self-name checking. The catchy chorus. For pure pop guilty pleasure, you can’t beat Roxette’s “Joyride”. Oh stop. I still love the Beatles and Dylan and the Stones. But can’t a guy like some top 40 once in awhile?!? Sheesh! ;)

Yeah, I’m backdating again… :)

So I’m sending out a special belated birthday greetings to a close family member (got to keep the specifics a secret you know, don’t want the paprazzi sniffing around :)  )

Still alive…

Just been busy with the impending move and other things I can’t (or won’t) talk about here. Stay with me guys. :)

It’s over.

There’s a lot I could say right now, but I’m at that lethal combination of tired and angry that make impulse decisions particularly dangerous. Suffice to say that I disagree with the severity of the treatment Don Imus got at the hands of his employers as they cowered before the “Reverends” Sharpton and Jackson, as others who have made worse comments are given a pass.

Do these people not understand that when you go overboard like this there is bound to be a backlash?

NOW the fun begins! :)

My Garmin GPS unit arrived yesterday. Right on schedule. So today, after work, I tried it out. I set my pace at a 13 minute mile (the minimum required by the Hartford marathon), set the distance for 4 miles, and away I went on the pavement. After about 1 1/2 miles, I really started feeling it. I kept at it though. Never stopping to walk, even though I was well ahead of my “virtual partner”.

After the 4 miles was up, I saw that I easily accomplished my goal. I averaged a 9 minute mile. Four miles done in 36 minutes. Not to shabby! Mind you, this GPS unit is accurate to less than 50 feet. How much less than 50 feet I don’t know. But being 50 feet off at any given point is certainly going to introduce a margin of error. More of a margin of error than the $3.00 wal-mart pedometer? I don’t know. But I figure if I can start running in as straight a line as possible, that will minimize the error. At any rate, I’m officially out on the pavement now. Boy am I feeling it now. I bet I’ll be feeling it more tomorrow. But I’m pressing on…

Hartford marathon: Your @$$ is MINE!

Thank you for the prayers.

Monday was nowhere near as bad as it could have been.

Today wasn’t so bad either!

Tomorrow, of course, is always another matter. :)

Everyone’s continued prayers would be appreciated.

Censorship mafia strikes again

Monday, April 9th, 2007

By now, we’ve all heard about Don Imus being suspended for two weeks for making some insensitive comments about the Rutgers women’s basketball team, whom he characterized as “nappy-headed hos.” Cue the Reverend’s Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who are calling for Imus’ ousting. I’m certainly not defending Don’s remarks, but anyone who’s ever heard his show would know that Imus is an equal opportunity offender. He pokes fun at, and insults everybody.

I’ve read a great deal from “community leaders” about how offensive Imus’ remarks were. What has been deafeningly silent, at least from my point of view, is the community. Where is the rank and file that ultimately pay Don Imus’ (and Les Moonves’) salaries? The ordinary Joe Schmoe seems to have collectively chuckled at Imus’ remark and (get this!) MOVED ON (no dot org at the end of that, by the way).

People simply turning off their radios would have a bigger impact than any protest, boycott or public hissy fit ever could. If you don’t like what Don Imus has to say, don’t listen. It’s as simple as that. But this script seems to be playing it self out like a scratched record.

1) Someone says an off-color remark

2) Sharpton/Jackson make a big stink, get themselves in the paper and on TV.

3) Lives/careers ruined, Al & Jesse move on to the next opportunity.

I can only wonder who’s interests these “leaders” are looking out for. Am I to believe Howard Stern hasn’t said something at least similar (if not worse) in the last, say 5 minutes? Why aren’t these community leaders going after him? What difference does it make if he’s on Sirius now?
Part of the price of having liberty is allowing others to have the same liberty. Part of the price of free speech is the near certainty that you’re going to hear something you don’t like.

God knows there are a ton of things on TV and the radio that I would love to see shut down. The difference is, that I understand that I don’t have the right to gather a small mob and impose my will on everyone else. If I don’t like what’s on TV, I change the channel, or I turn the damn thing off. It’s that simple. It’s time for everyone to take responsibility for their own choices, and let others make theirs.

Pray for me :(

For reasons I can’t get into because my name’s on this thing, tomorrow is not going to be a good day. I’m going to give this up to God and ask Him to carry me through it and give me wisdom, power and courage. I would, however, appreciate your prayers as well. Thank you.
