Now it can be told…

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

I bought a condo. I’m officially a homeowner. Actually, I’m a home OWE-er. ;) But it was a good deal, and the condo is in a nice neighborhood. Closing yesterday was a pretty bumpy, but as the bard wrote, “All’s well that ends well”.

Moving out/in will take a few weekends, so I’ll try to keep everyone update on what’s going on with me. Stay tuned…

Another 4 miles on the treadmill

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Thanks to another big coating of snow (in late March?!?), it’s still not good for running outside, so it’s back to the treadmill yesterday (Monday) morning before work. The training must be working because I wasn’t nearly as winded as I thought I would be at the end. Took me less than 39 minutes to run the 4 miles (thank goodness, because I was late for a meeting!). Must have been the Red Bull I had before leaving for the gym ;)

Tomorrow, another 3 miles on the treadmill. The train keeps chugging along!

Sometimes you get the bear…

…sometimes you dance alone. Oh well. At least I got out of the apartment for the evening. Unfortunately, all of the women there either 1) Came with their boyfriends 2) Weren’t interested in me or 3) Were interested more in each other than me…if you know what I mean.

And still no Johanna. That makes 3 weeks I’ve gone without seeing her. I do miss her :(

At least I got out to the club tonight. Sure beats sitting at home!!

3 Miles on the Treadmill Today

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

My knees and hips are feeling it big time. Good thing I get to rest Sunday. Started shopping for a new pair of shoes since I’ve had my old ones for a year now. One of the patrons at Dick’s told me about a store in Rocky Hill called The Run In; a store that caters to the serious runner that will find the best pair of shoes for me. I know I’ll pay an arm and a leg, but it will be worth it when I complete that 26.2!!!!

My aching…everything

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Today it was 4 miles on the treadmill. The New England weather still isn’t quite ready for outdoor running. Four miles in forty minutes. Today, however, I’m starting to pay the price. My ankles are killing me right now, as are my quads. Don’t know what to do about the ankle problems, but maybe if I stretch more before running my quads won’t hurt so much.

Tomorrow, thankfully is only 3 miles on the treadmill. I’m still going to finish that full marathon in October, come hell or high water. Possibly both ;)

Well, It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time :(

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Well, I traversed the 5 miles in the treacherous (by my own admission) roads, only to find that the club was closed! Sigh. Oh well. I guess it’s for the best. If they were open, more people would have crowded the roads and there would have been a lot more accidents, especially with alcohol involved.

There’s always tomorrow night, though, and I intend to cram two nights of good times into one!

Don’t Call It A Blizzard!!!

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Honestly, I thought New Englanders were tough. These days, we get a little snow and the whole area shuts down. Tons of people left work early in the area. Businesses shut down. What crybabies we have these days. I still go everywhere in my little Civic. People just don’t know how to drive, and they don’t know how to cope with bad weather.

It’s still snowing outside. I’m STILL going clubbing tonight! :) I have a feeling there won’t be big crowd tonight ;)

Update: Brad Delp death was a suicide.

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Between him and Richard Jeni, that makes two suicides in as many days. I find it so hard to understand why people, especially the rich and famous take their own lives. I can still remember hearing the news in college that Kurt Cobain killed himself. It just goes to show that all the money and fame in the world cannot replace friends and family. What boggles me is that Delp and Jeni appear to have had that too. They had it all. Both of them. They still thought life was so horrible that they couldn’t go on for even one more minute.

What hope is there for us poor and obscure schlubs?

Today I rested…

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

And boy did I need it. Tomorrow it’s back on the treadmill for 4 miles. Things are super crazy right now, for reasons I can’t get into just yet. Keep me in your prayers, won’t you?

Training update

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Well, I was tired on Monday morning, plus I had the speed dating that night, so I didn’t make it to the gym on Monday like I needed to. I had a rest day on Tuesday, so I used that to make up for Monday. I know, I know, you should try to make up missed days. I figured, what the heck, I’m only switching a rest day and a training day around, so what?

So on Tuesday and Wednesday I did 3 miles on the treadmill. The weather is starting to warm up though, so I hope to get outside to train soon! Stay tuned!
