RIP Yahoo

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

They said they were going to retire the old page design on Sept. 1. Looks like they decided on a day earlier. That’s it. I’m officially done with Yahoo as my search page. The new page design is so butt-ugly it’s not even funny. Why oh why can’t they leave well enough alone?

If anyone can suggest a decent home/search/news page, submit a comment!

It ain’t over `til it’s over. I may just be voting for my first Democrat this November. Just my way of giving Lamont the finger. Stay tuned…

You know I had to weigh on this.

How messed up does one guy have to be to make me want Lieberman to win? Answer: Pretty messed up.

THIS is the only Lamont worth voting for!

The Right Wing Bob blog, which I read daily, has a great clip of Dylan performing “In the Garden” from 1986.  Bob’s introduction is the icing on the cake. You’ll see what I mean. ;)

Wake up, little Suze

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

Good grief. This woman has to be the worst financial analyst in the whole world, which is probably why she’s on CNBC…on the weekends. Last night a woman called who was wondering if she should charge her boyfriend for the groceries she uses to cook for him. Never mind the fact that he was taking her out to eat 3 - 4 times a week! She suggested going shopping together so that he could see how much her food costs. Grocery shopping. Sounds like a hot date to me. Looks like Suze is as good as romantic advice as she is financial advice (read: not very).

For all of those wondering about how the band is doing. We may have a gig on August 19th, so keep the date open. Nothing is confirmed yet, so don’t get your hopes up. Keep the evening free, though. You never know!!

Keep on keeping on….

Went running yesterday, and hit another wall. I’m starting to get worried. I got started too late again, and it was too darn hot to run the entire time. I still walked nearly half the time. I got my 10 miles in, but not in the way I would have liked. I’m recovering today.

I can’t wait until this marathon is over, and I can go back to normal cardio and weight lifting.

I’m down…

Ever have one of those days? I think this is one of them for me. I’ve got a month to go until the marathon and I’m not where I want to be training wise. I’ll finish the race, that’s for sure, but whether I finish running or walking (or crawling) remains to be seen.

Maybe it’s the heat wave we’ve been experiencing. Seems like you can’t even enjoy being outside on a summer’s day. You kind of feel trapped between an air-conditioned office and an air-conditioned apartment.

There’s some other stuff affecting me too, but I don’t want to get into it here. Not today anyway.

As Scarlet said in that famous movie: “Tomorrow is another day”. Thank goodness that day is Friday!!

Missed it by…that much

Maxwell SmartAs Maxwell Smart would say. Emcore (EMKR) missed earnings my a penny and shares were down 10% in afterhours. Dang! Looks like I’m in this for the long haul. Maybe we’ll get a decent bounce if Bernanke only raises interest rates a quarter point. Would be even better if Uncle Ben left things alone :(  Here’s to the next fed meeting on August 8!!
