THIS was the special treat?!?

I just finished watching some of the 4th of July fireworks I recorded (on my homemade Tivo no less!). After the fireworks, the audience was treated (I would say subjected) to Liza Minelli singing “New York, New York”. Like an idiot, I deleted the video just before I thought it would make a great post for the BoormanBlog.

If any of you saw this performace, be sure to leave a comment on how horrified you were. Liza could only be described as a spaced-out, stumbling, arrogant, puffy train wreck.

Anyone can ruin a Sinatra standard, but it takes real talent to render a song as incoherently, disturbingly bad as Liza did.

Not to beat the woman down, she’s been through enough in her life. I certainly don’t consider myself a fan or a “hater” of her work, but damn.

Liza in better days.
