This was not so good.
My Garmin GPS had a weak signal for more than a few seconds a few times during this morning’s run
At a 10 minute mile, this should have taken 1 hour and 20 minutes exactly. Yes, the distance was longer (the most I’ve run all day), but I think it’s the GPS’s fault.
At any rate, the next 2 days are rest days for me, then a Saturday long run of 10 miles.
I’m probably breaking lots of rules here. “Cramming” is best meant for final exams, not half marathons
As Warren Zevon sang, “Keep me in your heart for awhile”

Not bad
My legs are hurting though
I’m almost at a solid, quarter marathon (or half my race in, oh, two weeks).
It was tough going, but at least I was able to run before work today, and the weather cooperated.
Tomorrow is a rest day. I’m going to need it!

Not bad, but not good either. At least I’m maintaining My 10 minute mile (roughly), but 5 miles is a far cry from 13.1, and with only weeks to go until the half marathon, I’m going to have to step it up.
Keep me in your thoughts my friends.

It’s been weeks since I’ve run. Low energy. Overseas travel. A sickness I took back with me from my overseas travel. STILL cold weather. Miscellanous things.
Today I left work a little early so it would still be daylight when I got home. Managed to do 3 miles today. Maybe could have done more, but I didn’t want to push it.
Less than 4 weeks until the half marathon and I’m at 3 miles. Not even 25% Sigh. I guess I can walk part of the way. Won’t be no PR’s this time.

Woo Hoo!! Yes, Bobcats, Dylan is coming to the Worcester Palladium on May 16. It’s been MONTHS since I last saw Dylan in concert. I am THERE dude!
The shows haven’t been that great lately though. The set lists have been as boring as the backup band. I long for the days of 2003 when he still had Larry Campbell and Charlie Sexton in the band. Bob was playing obscurities like “Yea, Heavy and a Bottle of Bread”, as well as covers by Warren Zevon, Neil Young, even the Rolling Stones!
Yeah, those were the days.
Now all we get is greatest hits with a dull back up band.
But I don’t care. It’s Bob and I’m going. I’ll let you know how it is

As my friends Bill and Angry Jack know, even when you think you’re doing the right thing, sometimes not everyone is going to agree with you, or be on board with what you decide.
With every blessing, there is a cost, and sometimes the bill is bigger than you thought it would be.
Thankfully I have a few good friends who are praying for me. With God’s will, I will pull through and everything will be OK.

Got out of work at a decent hour today. I was able to get some running in earlier in the week, and I decided to get another run in before it got totally dark. After finishing up Mad Money, I went out, starting my Garmin at the top of the hill where I live so I can include some hillwork in each run.
I decided to push it today and go for 5 miles. I was exhausted. Wheezing. Sweating under my sweatshirt. I heard the crickets chirping, even though it was still pretty chilly in the 50’s.
But it was worth it. My time wasn’t too bad either! 53 minutes. That’s about a 10:36 mile. 5 miles. That’s a third of a half-marathon, which is less than 2 months away. Not looking for PR’s this time around, just looking to finish…and to lose my gut!

Ford Motor Company (F) has been on a tear lately! According to Cramer, we’re at the point in the economic cycle where you should buy the auto makers (after several Fed rate cuts). Glad I listened. I got in at 6, and after a few days, it’s nearly at 7. I already unloaded most of my position already. Not making a whole lot, (more cab fare home) but after this week, it’s been easy money, and isn’t that the best kind.
This may still have more to go, especially if Ford can turn things around. I read that they are eliminating up to 90% of options for many of their models. Turns out 10% of the combinations of options were making 90% of the money. Hopefully, these cost cutting measures will show on the bottom line.
I’m loving Ford right now!

Would have liked to have done more today, but I’m still easing into training.
Today I clocked in at nearly 33 minutes, just about an 11 minute mile. Not bad considering I had to stop and wait for the light to change…twice and I had to stop and tie my shoe…twice….once when it came untied (!) and again shortly after when it became apparent that I had retied it too tight.
I’ll get there. Won’t be setting any PR’s on 6/1 though!

I was able to leave work at a descent hour, and it was still daylight when I got home, so I decided to do a little running.
I took out the insoles of my regular running shoes and put in some Wal-Mart purchased orthodics. Gave me more space in the toes, but I need more cushioning near the ball of the foot. Nevertheless, I pushed on with my calves screaming. I was in pain and tiring fast with the extra weight and extra clothes (still chilly here in New England). But it felt good to get out there. The air smelled fresh.
Just like when I was running last year, I would count down the last mile
Five Thousand Two Hundred and Eighty Feet.
Four Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Feet.
.
.
.
Two Thousand Six Hundred and Forty Feet.
.
.
.
One Thousand Three Hundred and Twenty Feet.
.
.
One Thousand…and Fifty Six Feet
.
.
.
Five Hundred and Twenty Eight feet.
Beep beep beep!! Done!
And in 32 minutes. Thats about a 10:40 mile. Not too bad. Felt winded, but proud.
